Job summary

University of Hawai'i at Hilo is seeking a casual hire Practicum Development Specialist for part-time work (up to 19 hours/week). The role focuses on developing practicum sites in community mental health and SUD treatment, coordinating partnerships, and aligning placements with student goals.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field, a CSAC credential or eligibility, and at least 2 years of related experience. Appointment is temporary, with potential start January 2027.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Licensed or license-eligible as a counselor, psychologist, or social worker, with specialized training in SUD.
• At least 2 years of experience in clinical training or practicum coordination within mental health or substance abuse settings.
• Strong knowledge of SUD treatment and CSAC in Hawaii.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with community organizations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple partnerships and placements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and establish practicum sites in community mental health and SUD treatment organizations.
• Build relationships with community partners and serve as liaison for practicum placements.
• Assist students in securing practicum placements aligned with goals and provide ongoing support.
• Collaborate with faculty to refine practicum components and evaluate placements for accreditation.
• Coordinate training for partners and students, staying updated on best practices in mental health and SUD treatment.
• Conduct other duties as assigned.
