Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Practice Manager to provide administrative oversight of day-to-day operations for Memorial Medical Group's outpatient clinics. The role supports multiple facilities, coordinates with departments, and reports to the Practice Director.

The successful candidate will manage staffing, supply chains, billing collaboration, compliance, and quality improvement while ensuring patient and staff satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • BS preferred in business, healthcare management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of management experience in a medical practice setting.
  • Strong understanding of physician practice operations.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; analytical problem-solving.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with billing cycles and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains positive relationships with staff, physicians, and APPs to improve satisfaction and performance.
  • Maintains par levels for supplies and medications; orders through approved vendors.
  • Supervises front office staff and cross-trains for check-in/out.
  • Oversees maintenance of facilities and ensures safety and code compliance.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinates education activities with Medical Education Department.
  • Implements best practice processes and ensures staff compliance.
  • Participates in quality improvement and budget monitoring.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and corporate standards.
  • Attends operational meetings and supports growth initiatives.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Practice Manager is responsible for the administrative oversight of day to day operations for an outpatient medical clinic within Memorial Medical Group in accordance with established policies procedures and standards This role requires emphasis in both anticipating and planning for future changes The Practice Manager position may support 4 or more providers and up to 50 employees at any given time This role provides oversight for more than one physical Memorial Medical Group clinic location SUPERVISION Reports directly to Practice Director

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Maintains positive working relationships with staff physicians and APPs to achieve patient staff and provider satisfaction and continuous group performance improvement
  • Maintains par level for medical and office supplies in addition to medications Keeps par level by timely ordering through approved methods and vendors
  • Supervises front office staff
  • Is cross trained in check in and check out for all functions
  • Oversees the maintenance of property plant and equipment and ensures it is in satisfactory working order and up to code along with the Plant Operations
  • Communicates effectively and in a timely and professional manner with all internal and external customers
  • Coordinates education activities through collaboration with the Medical Education Department
  • Incorporates best practice processes in offices and monitors staff compliance with these practices
  • Attends and participates in operational meetings
  • Identifies and participates in quality improvement processes
  • Demonstrates awareness of patient rights and ensures that awareness is demonstrated by staff and providers
  • Administers and monitors the practice operations expenditures consistent with cost containment and budgetary restraints
  • Coordinates activities with the Patient Financial Services Department to maximize effectiveness in billing practices and revenue cycle performance
  • Work in collaboration with Public RelationsMarketing Department to ensure practice growth
  • Maintains compliance with federal state and local regulations
  • Ensures corporate compliance is an integral part of all business processes
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize responsibilities according to practice activities and staffing demands
  • Conducts monthly at a minimum staff meetings
  • Communicates and implements appropriate departmental policies and procedures
  • Collaborates with support departments to ensure quality care is delivered to all patients
  • Works to achieve continuous quality improvement and performance in all areas of responsibility
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars workshops and professional affiliations
  • Maintains staff and providers schedules time off including PTOELB maintenance
  • Adheres to all regulatory standards
  • Performs other duties as requested by management

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • BS preferred in business healthcare managementadministration or related healthcare field or 5 years experience in a medical practice setting or similar ambulatory or business setting in which potential administrative and supervisory competence has been demonstrated
  • Extensive understanding of physician practice operations
  • Management experience required
  • Ability to read write and speak intelligible English; Ability to learn quickly analyze problems and communicate effectively with superiors peers and others on one to one basis
  • Computer literacy essential
  • Experience in billing cycle professional and facility coding and compliance required
  • Has broad fairly detailed level of knowledge of a specific area
  • Gathers organizes verifies composes andor analyzes data in the completion of several defined multi step procedures
  • Produces final output within established standards
  • Analyzes and interprets complicated information
  • Determines a course of action based on general guidelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work Environment Work requires a variety of physical activities including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non emergent situationsMay be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patientsMust be able to exchange accurate information with patient family peers and medical personnelReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
