Cooper Norcross Health is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Cape May Court House, NJ. You will deliver patient-centered care in a busy hospital setting, performing phlebotomy and assisting with EKGs while ensuring safety and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Obtain current patient information including vital signs, allergies, reason for visit, medical history updates, and record on patient chart.
  • Identify and prepare the patient, explain procedures, and maintain patient privacy during testing.
  • Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites per OSHA standards.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Schedule tests, procedures, and hospital admissions; coordinate follow-ups and reschedules.
  • Perform routine administrative duties as needed.

Short Description
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Obtains current patient information including but not limited to; vital signs, height, weight, specimens, allergies, reason for visit, chief complaint, medical history updates, and medication changes, and recordssame on patient chart.
  • Properly identify and prepare the patient and explain procedures. Maintains patient privacy during testing.
  • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
  • Perform routine EKG procedures in accordance with the American Heart Association standards and department policies.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Performs treatment & wound care.
  • Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients/ family/ significant others while providing care in a high stress environment with multiple priorities.
  • Administers: oral, topical, and injectable medications according to patient safety standards.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.

  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.

  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.

  • Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing education literature, etc.

  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician and verifies presence of consent prior to treatment or procedures.

  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician.

  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians.

  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow-up on test results, as applicable.

  • Arranges for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.

  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.

  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.

  • All other duties as assigned

Experience Required
  • 3-years experience in a hospital, physician's office, or clinic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Performance of EKG required.
Education Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
License/Certification Requirements
  • Current registration with the New Jersey State Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Special Requirements
  • Current American Heart Association BCLS/CPR certification required.
