Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking an Environmental Practice Leader to lead our environmental services in Seattle/Bellevue, WA. You will direct a growing team, develop new business, and oversee execution and QA/QC of projects.

You will manage client relationships, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive technical excellence across the Pacific Northwest region. This role requires strong leadership and long‑term client development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Science.
• In‑depth knowledge of MTCA, EPA, CERCLA, and RCRA regulations.
• 12+ years of successful, local, and related experience with environmental investigations and remediation projects.
• Experience in land‑development driven brownfield remediation in the state of Washington.
• Experience completing site cleanups with the Washington Department of Ecology (DOE).
• PE/LG/LHG required; proven client-development and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage large, complex environmental engineering and remediation projects; perform senior level technical analysis and review.
• Identify and pursue new clients; develop additional work within existing projects; attend business development meetings.
• Maintain membership and leadership roles in external industry organizations.
• Develop and lead a team of environmental staff; hire, coach, train, motivate; oversee junior staff on projects.
• Provide senior project direction on complex projects, including fate and transport analyses and remedial alternatives.
• Ensure proper and safe execution of field assignments and correct interpretation of findings.
• Deliver multiple projects within budgets and schedules; prepare progress reports, invoices, and assist in collections.
• Maintain technical excellence and QA/QC on documents and proposals; coordinate with other offices as needed.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Practice Leader to join its collaborative team in Seattle or Bellevue, WA. This individual will serve as practice leader for the environmental services discipline in Langan’s Pacific Northwest region. They will manage an existing and growing environmental team, develop new business, bear overall responsibility for the execution of environmental/engineering projects and proposals, manage the production of related assignments, provide senior project direction during all aspects of work, and perform quality assurance/quality control reviews of final work products. In this role, the individual will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage a robust and growing engineering practice in the Pacific Northwest region.

Job Responsibilities

• Direct and manage large, complex environmental engineering and remediation projects, including performing senior level technical analysis and review.
• Identify and pursue new clients, develop additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings and events.
• Maintain membership and leadership roles in external industry organizations.
• Develop and lead a team of environmental staff, including hiring, coaching, training, motivating staff, and providing direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments.
• Provide senior project direction on complex environmental projects, including fate and transport analysis, human health exposure assessments, and remedial alternatives analyses.
• Ensure proper and safe execution of field assignments by junior staff and correct interpretation of findings.
• Ensure multiple projects and tasks are delivered within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Process progress reports and change orders in a timely manner. Prepare draft invoices, project billings, and assist in payment collections.
• Maintain technical excellence in environmental consulting and engineering and provide the highest level of QA/QC on technical documents and proposals.
• Coordinate with other work groups within the same or different office locations and/or disciplines on an as‑needed basis.
• Interface effectively and professionally with clients, regulators, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and others.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Experience completing site cleanups with the Washington Department of Ecology (DOE), including working with DOE to complete remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and cleanup action plans.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Licensed Geologist (LG), or Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHG) required.
• Proven client‑development experience with strong people, project, and client management skills.
• Established relationships with private and/or public sector clients and a proven ability to generate repeat work and expand a consulting services portfolio.
• Active participation in professional organizations.
• Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software.
• Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and provide leadership in a team environment.
• Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm’s annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time, and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.

Pay Range

$120,000—$171,000 USD
