Responsibilities
- Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments and procedures
- Obtaining pre-authorizations and referrals as required
- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
- Ensuring timely billing of claims to remain compliant with CMG policies and payor guidelines
- Reviewing patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtaining any missing information
- Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances
- Addressing and correcting claim issues that are assigned for practice resolution
- Updating patient accounts to reflect accurate demographic and insurance information
- Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
- Setting up patient payment plans
- Working with MSO to accurately report accounts to the collections agency
- Performing miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned
Qualifications / Education & Experience
HS Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working as a medical biller, preferably in a patient practice setting. Experience with a variety of insurances. EMR experience required, Athena preferred.
Knowledge & Skills / Expected Competencies
- Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding
- Working knowledge of medical terminology

- Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public

Compensation
Hourly wage range: $20.00–$26.00 per hour. Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role, education, experience, skills, and location.
