· AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed hospital in Tampa, Florida, specializing in cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine, and general surgery, including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. It hosts GME programs in general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and transitional year.
· Home to the AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a leader in cardiovascular care for over 35 years.
· The Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, leading in neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, and advanced surgery research.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Practice Area Specialist ensures charges generated in the Epic Clinical system are properly recorded and documented, providing feedback to clinical leaders. They collaborate with departments like Financial Services, Patient Accounting, Coding, HIM, and URM to review and improve charge accuracy, especially in OR/Radiology. They participate in process improvement meetings, audit operational areas, and support charge capture systems. They serve as a liaison to AHS leadership regarding billing concerns and educate clinical departments on charging efficiencies to ensure payment integrity and accuracy. The role covers West Florida Division and off-site facilities including Tampa, LTAC, North Pinellas, and others.

  • Makes process improvement recommendations based on audits.
  • Leads charge accuracy meetings and updates RI Director.
  • Researches charge questions with corporate departments.
  • Uses the charge master manual for guidance.
  • Analyzes report findings, develops recommendations, and implements actions to minimize late or missing charges.
  • Documents and reports findings, educates, and develops clinical department recommendations.
  • Supports revenue cycle analysis including denial, charge lag, and underpayment analysis.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Associate's degree.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Current Florida RN license or certification for coding or RCIS credential.
