Job summary

The Aspen Group (TAG) is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support the monthly close for a growing dental management company in Syracuse, NY. You will help manage journal entries, incentives, and balance sheet accuracy while ensuring GAAP compliance and timely reporting.

In this role you’ll interact with regional managers and dental owners, participate in monthly calls, and prepare internal and external financial statements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Public or private accounting experience for a large organization is a plus
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Above average Microsoft Office skills, most notably Excel
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Provide finance support to regional managers, territory directors and DVPs within the field organization as well as dental office owners.
• Ensure compliance with company policy and general accepted accounting principles.
• Analyze and post standard and non-standard journal entries.
• Calculate and process incentives for office and Field level incentives across the responsible territory.
• Receive requests to change items in the P&L or incentive calculations and determine validity of changes.
• Any changes related to wages greater than $10,000 at an individual level require manager approval.
• Any accounting adjustments greater than $25,000 at an individual office level require manager approval.
• Submit incentive payments to payroll for processing on a monthly basis.
• Answer questions from employees or Field on incentive calculations.
• Participate on monthly calls with owners, DVPs, and Directors to answer finance related questions.
• Provide guidance to owners on P&L items and receive requests on the P&Ls.
• Approximately 50% of responsibilities will be handling Field requests requiring discretion.
• Elevate unusual requests to manager for review.
• Reconcile Balance Sheet and P&L accounts monthly.
• Analyze accounts to identify incorrect postings and reclassifications.
• Review and analyze assigned P&L categories and identify monthly adjusting entries as needed.
• Prepare and distribute recurring and ad-hoc reports or analysis.
• Assist in external annual audit requests.
• Support quarterly financial statements and report packages.
• Work with POP independent CPAs to support tax return preparation.
• Manage cross-functional execution of financial close activities.
• Handle special projects and ad-hoc requests.
