Practical Nursing Clinical Instructor Substitute (PRN)

Instruct nursing students in the clinical setting according to curriculum standards and objectives.

SUMMARY

Clinical Nursing Instructor needed at our Aurora campus to join our Practical Nursing Program. The position is a PRN role (Thu-Fri, 7 am-5 pm) providing hands-on clinical instruction and student supervision. Requires nursing degree (Master's preferred), current RN license, and 3+ years of direct patient care experience. $37.51-$46.59/hour plus benefits including 401(k), ESOP, and healthcare.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Instruct students on clinical experiences and arrange appropriate clinical experiences based on individual student needs.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and update the purpose, mission, and objectives of the Nursing Education Program.
  • Coordinate the clinical education for all students.
  • Supervise the students in all clinical experiences.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate the instruction provided by ANIP and Clinical Faculty. Adhere to school and clinical facility policy and procedure.
  • Maintain student attendance established policies.
  • Evaluate student performance and progress by clinical performance standards.
  • Coordinate resolutions to concerns between students and institutional staff members.
  • Instruct students in appropriate techniques and methods of the Practical Nursing program.
  • Monitor student progress weekly and coordinate with the Clinical Director to create Academic Success Plans.
  • Attend faculty meetings unless otherwise excused.
  • Maintain professional interaction with students, faculty, staff, and clinical site personnel.
  • Maintain currency in clinical practice and be apprised of changes in the nursing profession.

MENTAL TASKS

Communicate. Read. Comprehend. Perform functions from written and oral instructions and from observing others.

PHYSICAL TASKS

Sort, separate, and file documents and forms. Write. Hearing within normal range. Eyesight within normal range with or without corrective devices. Lift to 20 pounds. Stand and walk for prolonged periods during an 8-12 hour shift. Push an occupied wheelchair, assist with patient transfers, and turn patients into a bed without the use of assistive devices.

METHODS, TECHNIQUES, PROCEDURES

Review appropriate documents, forms, and reports.

EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS

Utilizes office equipment such as telephone, copier, printer, and computer. Utilizes medical equipment such as stethoscope, intravenous pump, fetal monitor, and orthopedic trapeze. Simulation/lab faculty will function in the skills lab and operate all equipment including but not limited to vital signs machinery, monitors, computers, and mannequins. Operates SSIM equipment per guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to the indoor classroom, lab, and office environment. Contact with employees, students, and the public. Exposure to biohazardous materials such as blood and saliva.

CONTROL SUPERVISION

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing preferred, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with a written plan demonstrating ongoing progression in obtaining a graduate degree in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Current Colorado or compact state nursing license, to practice as a registered nurse, that is active and unencumbered.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and computer skills.
