Job Overview

The Amazon Public Relations team is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and savvy communications professional for the role of Public Relations Manager, Small Business Empowerment. The person who fills this role will be responsible for proactive communications activities and storytelling around how Amazon empowers and supports small businesses. This role involves working with various stakeholders within Selling Partner Services to provide communications counsel, identify story angles, and manage communications for key announcements and events. Additionally, the role entails collaborating with Amazon's independent selling partners, entrepreneurs, founders, and artisans to craft impactful narratives about their growth in partnership with Amazon.

Location

This role can be located in Seattle, WA, New York City, or the Washington, D.C. area.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead communication strategies supporting small businesses within Amazon’s selling partner community
2. Develop and execute proactive communication plans, announcements, and narratives
3. Provide counsel to executives and business teams on messaging and communication approaches
4. Collaborate cross-functionally to create feature opportunities for small business owners
5. Build and maintain relationships with top-tier media contacts
6. Craft and refine storylines and talking points strategically
7. Manage communication plans and secure leadership approvals
8. Handle complex and fast-moving communication challenges proactively and reactively
9. Identify and leverage news opportunities with strategic recommendations
10. Support PR activities through third-party agencies
11. Represent Amazon as a spokesperson when needed

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of recent professional experience in communications or public relations
• Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consumer or corporate PR
• Proven success managing proactive announcements and media coverage
• Media relations expertise, including pitching stories and managing issues on a national and local scale
