Job summary

Lutheran Child and Family Services of IN/KY is seeking a PR & Communications Coordinator to support media outreach, social media, donor communications, and event promotion. Qualifications

  • Two to five years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising, or nonprofit engagement.
  • Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital communications.
  • Experience creating marketing and promotional materials.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common communication, fundraising, and social media platforms.

Job description

Position Summary

The PR & Communications Coordinator supports LCFS's communications, marketing, public relations, donor engagement, and event promotion efforts. This position is responsible for coordinating media outreach, social media management, website content, donor communications, fundraising campaigns, marketing materials, and community engagement initiatives that increase awareness of the organization's mission, programs, services, and impact.

Working collaboratively with leadership, development staff, program teams, and community partners, the Coordinator helps ensure consistent messaging, effective storytelling, successful fundraising campaigns, and strong community visibility across all communication channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Public Relations & Media Relations
  • Assist in developing and distributing press releases, media advisories, organizational announcements, and community updates.
  • Coordinate media inquiries and maintain media contact lists.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports on earned media placements.
  • Research and submit nominations for awards, recognitions, speaking opportunities, and community honors.
  • Support efforts to increase organizational visibility and positive public awareness.
  • Assist with collecting stories, testimonials, and impact data to support media and public relations efforts.
Social Media & Digital Communications
  • Manage and maintain organizational social media platforms.
  • Develop, schedule, and publish content aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns.
  • Monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages as appropriate.
  • Track and report social media analytics and performance metrics.
  • Assist with website updates, content management, and digital storytelling.
  • Coordinate photography, video, and multimedia content to support communications efforts.
Marketing & Brand Management
  • Design and create marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, presentations, fact sheets, event collateral, digital advertisements, and promotional materials.
  • Create visual assets using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communication and marketing materials.
  • Coordinate production of print and digital marketing materials.
  • Support organizational outreach, recruitment, fundraising, and awareness campaigns.
Donor Communications & Fundraising Support
  • Design, write, and coordinate donor campaign communications, including email appeals, stewardship messages, giving day campaigns, and year-end fundraising initiatives.
  • Create compelling donor-centered content that highlights LCFS's mission, impact, and funding needs.
  • Develop and manage email marketing campaigns using fundraising and email marketing platforms.
  • Monitor campaign performance metrics, including open rates, click-through rates, donor engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Assist with donor stewardship communications, impact reporting, and fundraising materials.
  • Collaborate with development staff to support annual giving, donor cultivation, special events, and fundraising initiatives.
Peer-to-Peer & Virtual Fundraising Campaigns
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns that engage supporters, volunteers, board members, and community partners.
  • Create campaign toolkits, templates, messaging, graphics, and promotional materials for peer-to-peer fundraisers.
  • Manage virtual fundraising platforms and campaign webpages.
  • Provide support and training to peer-to-peer fundraisers and campaign participants.
  • Track campaign performance and prepare reports on fundraising outcomes and participant engagement.
  • Assist in developing strategies to increase donor participation and community involvement through virtual fundraising initiatives.
Event Promotion & Community Engagement
  • Coordinate marketing and promotional efforts for fundraising events, community events, and other activities.
  • Create event promotional materials, social media campaigns, and communication plans.
  • Assist with sponsor recognition, event publicity, and post-event communications.
Communications Planning & Budget Support
  • Design and implement the organization's annual communications and marketing plan.
  • Maintain communications calendars and track project deadlines.
  • Monitor communications and marketing expenses and assist with budget tracking and reporting.
  • Coordinate vendors, designers, photographers, printers, media partners, and marketing resources as needed.
  • Track key performance indicators and prepare reports on communications, marketing, and fundraising activities.
Qualifications

  • Familiarity with website content management systems and basic website updates.
  • Experience supporting fundraising events and donor engagement initiatives.
