Job summary

Oxoid Remel Microbiology, part of the Thermo Fisher lineage and now under Astorg ownership, is seeking a PPI Business System Specialist II in Lenexa, KS. You will drive continuous improvement by applying Lean and PPI methodologies to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity across manufacturing and regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of experience applying continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or related methodologies in manufacturing, laboratory, operations, or regulated environments.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent preferred.
• Working knowledge of Lean and PPI tools, including value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, visual management, root cause analysis, daily management, and kaizen methodologies.

Join us as a PPI Business System Specialist II at our Lenexa site, where you'll support meaningful change through our Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System. In this role, you'll partner with site teams and functional leaders to advance a culture of continuous improvement that improves safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and the customer and employee experience.

What You Will Do

• Support lean management systems across the Lenexa site.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate kaizen events.
• Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to improve processes and reduce inefficiencies.
• Help teams apply PPI tools and use data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Build capability through practical training and coaching.
• Improve operational performance and sustain process improvements.
• Lead defined improvement projects and support larger cross-functional initiatives.
• Continue developing PPI and Lean capabilities.

How You Will Get Here

• Advanced degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of experience applying continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or related methodologies in manufacturing, laboratory, operations, or regulated environments.
• Preferred fields of study: Engineering, Science, Operations, Business, or a related field.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent preferred.
• Formal project management training or certification is desirable.
• Working knowledge of Lean and PPI tools, including value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, visual management, root cause analysis, daily management, and kaizen methodologies.
• Project management and organizational skills with experience leading defined improvement projects or workstreams and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with process mapping, project tracking, or visualization tools is beneficial.
• Ability to support benefit tracking and work with Finance and stakeholders to document project impact and savings.
• Effective communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and organizational levels.
• Ability to provide introductory training and coaching on PPI tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience supporting change initiatives and adoption of improved processes.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills using data-driven approaches.
• Ability to work with moderate independence on defined assignments while collaborating effectively across functions.
• Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to build trust and influence without direct authority.
• Ability to manage and resolve conflicts and manage stakeholder priorities.
• Experience in GMP, medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical, or other regulated environments preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support PPI activities.
• Fluency in English required.
