Job Description: Civil/Structural Engineer at Phoenix Power Group

PPG is a sister company of QISG under Quanta Services, Inc., specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction services for utility and industrial infrastructure projects across North America.

The Civil/Structural Engineer will lead the civil and structural design for large utility or industrial facilities, overseeing subcontractor work, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and supporting project development and execution.

Essential Duties

• Coordinate and review civil and structural engineering tasks, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Review engineering deliverables for value, constructability, and correctness.
• Support site development permitting efforts and review geotechnical reports.
• Oversee subcontractor work to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
• Provide technical leadership for design plans, specifications, and details.
• Apply industry standards such as IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI in design review.
• Coordinate directly with subcontractor engineers to resolve design issues.
• Participate in client design reviews and project meetings.
• Assist in preparing reports, design criteria, and specifications during proposal and contract phases.

Position based in Paramus, NJ, with travel to project sites and subcontractors as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of experience in substation, industrial process, or power generation facility design.
• Strong background in civil, foundation, and structural design for large facilities.
• Experience with underground and above-ground structural systems, drainage, foundations, and temporary structures.
• Knowledge of piling, materials, and construction techniques.
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
• Leadership experience as a design engineer on multiple projects.
• Ability to develop specifications and support permitting.
• Excellent communication skills; P.E. license preferred but not required.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 20% travel to project sites and subcontractor offices as needed.
