PPF Installer
Role Summary
The PPF Installer is responsible for prepping, cutting, and applying paint protection film to customer vehicles to a showroom-quality standard. This role works from digital cut patterns and hand-cut templates, and is expected to deliver clean, bubble-free, properly wrapped-edge installs on everything from daily drivers to high-end exotics.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and prep vehicle panels (clay bar, IPA wipe-down, panel gap cleaning) before every PPF install.
- Plan and execute film cuts using plotter patterns and/or hand-cut methods depending on the job.
- Apply PPF to hoods, fenders, mirrors, rocker panels, full fronts, and full wraps with correct tension and edge wrap.
- Inspect finished panels under proper lighting to catch bubbles, silvering, lifted edges, or debris before releasing the vehicle.
- Maintain and calibrate the plotter/cutting equipment and keep the install bay organized.
- Communicate with the Sales Advisor if a vehicle has pre-existing paint damage that should be documented before install.
- Track film usage and flag low inventory to the shop manager.
- Follow manufacturer cure-time and care instructions and relay them to the customer at pickup.
- PPE (gloves, cut-resistant gloves for blade work) must be worn during all prep and installation steps.
- No install begins until the panel has passed the pre-install inspection checklist.
- Blades and squeegees must be replaced/cleaned between vehicles — no cross-contamination of panels.
- Any pre-existing paint defect must be photographed and logged before film is applied.
- Install bay must be swept and organized at the end of each shift.
