A leading healthcare provider is searching for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join their team, focusing on preoperative patient care. Responsibilities include managing patient assessments, coordinating care, and communicating with healthcare professionals. This position requires a Bachelor's in Nursing, current RN licensure in Massachusetts, and at least five years of related clinical experience. After initial training, the role will be remote with flexible hours.
The PPE Registered Nurse assumes the accountability and responsibility manages all aspects of the nursing process and the delivery of patient and family centered care, for the preoperative patient. The Registered Nurse has the responsibility and authority to request and use governing and administrative resources, technological and support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts necessary to manage and deliver quality, cost effective patient care.
Job Specific Responsibilities.
oUtilizes the standards of Patient Focused Model. Plans, implements, and evaluates, and manages care for all patients with consideration of age, developmental, socioeconomic, psychological, physical, spiritual, and cultural factors. Position requires outstanding assessment and care coordination skills.
oPractice reflects knowledge of current nursing literature and resources, demonstrates ongoing learning in appropriate science as: contemporary medical, pharmacologic, pathophysiology to care for specific patient types.
oMaintains competency in nursing practice and clinical skills and makes annual plan for processional development. Completes mandatory educational requirements.
oValidates patient identification according to hospital policy and reviews the consent and procedure. Assess, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for assigned patients that is consistent with the medical plan and is responsive to the patient's changing needs.
oDelegates appropriate nursing activities to unlicensed personnel based on the stability of the patient; the training and capability of the unlicensed person to whom the nursing task is delegated; nature of the nursing task being delegated; and the proximity and availability of the nurse to the unlicensed person when performing the activity.
oCollects and analyzes patient information. Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and health care team members to: expedite and coordinate the delivery of services and ensure efficient use of resources and to determine the need for further preop-evaluation by PCP, surgeon or anesthesiologist.
oCollaborates with the physician regarding the patient's clinical status, medical and nursing treatment plans, progression toward outcomes and next level of care.
oCommunicates with other staff/physicians regarding impending potential procedure complications or specific requirements post-operatively. Maintains continuity of care, delivery process and family/significant other communication to achieve optimal outcomes.
oAssesses patient's learning needs. Develops discharge planning support. Develops a teaching plan based upon assessment. Ensure the patient has the necessary consults, i.e. Social Services, Rehabilitation, etc. Educates patients and family members in disease process, testing, medications, signs/symptoms, etc. Communicates understanding/progress to outcomes with other team members. Communicates with physician offices to obtain required documentation and coordinates the patient care with the anesthesiologist as required by patient status.
oAssumes timely initiation, completion, communication and documentation of nursing care, tests, treatment, teaching, and discharge planning activities. Verifies surgery date and time with OR schedule and patient.
oConsults the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Health Care Coordinator for complex patient care management and discharge planning.
oIdentifies barriers to implementing the plan of care or to achieving expected outcomes.
oConsults appropriate resources to report and/or resolve problems.
oSeeks out innovative opportunities to improve patient care.
-Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
-Current MA RN licensure
-5+ years related clinical experience
Training for the PPE RN position will be in person at Merrimack Valley Endoscopy Center in Haverhill, training hours will be Monday through Friday 8;00 am to 4:30 pm. Once training is complete, the position will be remote, hours will be flexible.
