Job summary

Brighton NC Machine is seeking a PPAP Coordinator to manage Production Part Approval Process activities, collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain, and ensure timely approvals and documentation for new and existing programs.

The role requires knowledge of AIAG Core Tools and IATF 16949, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in MS Office. The successful candidate will help drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance across facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, and Control Plans.
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements and internal auditing.
• Proficiency with MS Office and quality documentation systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate customer PPAP submissions.
• Support capability studies and Gage R&R activities.
• Maintain PPAP status for new customer programs.
• Participate in weekly APQP (V-Step) meetings and provide feedback.
• Review PPAP status with the Quality Manager weekly.
• Communicate supplier and customer PPAP status updates.
• Establish and maintain supplier and customer breakpoints.
• Develop and update core quality documents including Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEAs.
• Perform IATF 16949 internal audits as assigned.
• Conduct layered process audits.
• Support corrective action investigations and implementation.
• Utilize measurement and test equipment to support quality activities.
• Support problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain environmental responsibilities per ISO14001.
• Ensure flammables and aerosols are stored properly.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Job description

The PPAP Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities to ensure customer requirements are met and product approvals are obtained in a timely manner. This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, customers, and suppliers to support new product launches, engineering changes, and ongoing production requirements. The PPAP Coordinator maintains PPAP documentation, monitors project timelines, supports APQP activities, and ensures compliance with customer-specific requirements and quality management system standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, and Control Plans.
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949 requirements and internal auditing principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality-related documentation systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, process flows, and basic GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring and testing equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, reports, and quality documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or technical education related.
• Two or more years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality systems, or quality assurance role.
• Experience supporting customer and supplier PPAP activities.
• Experience conducting IATF 16949 internal audits and layered process audits.
• Experience with corrective action processes, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience in a CNC machining, automotive, or precision manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with customer-specific requirements and quality reporting systems.
