Job summary

Zipline, the world’s largest drone delivery service, is seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Battery & Power Electronics team in California. You will build prototypes, assemble hardware, and support development from prototype to production, collaborating with design and test engineers.

The role offers hands-on lab work, equipment setup, validation activities, and ongoing improvements. The starting hourly range is $42–$52, with overtime eligibility, stock options, and full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience building, assembling, troubleshooting, or supporting electromechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hand tools and fabrication equipment.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly documentation, and engineering work instructions.
• Experience with wiring harness fabrication, crimping, soldering, cable routing, connector assembly, and electrical integration.
• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, DAQ systems, battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and vibration equipment.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, modify, and maintain prototypes and battery systems.
• Assemble test equipment and fixtures using drawings and schematics.
• Perform wiring, soldering, crimping, and cable assembly.
• Set up and operate laboratory equipment for validation tests.
• Troubleshoot prototype hardware and implement improvements.
• Contribute to documentation and lab process improvements.
