Job summary

Ascentt is seeking a Senior/Mid-Level Powertrain Engineer to join our propulsion team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. You will contribute to the design, development, calibration, and validation of propulsion systems across hybrid, BEV, and ICE architectures, bridging hardware and controls.

We hire at both mid and senior levels; responsibilities will scale with experience. Candidates should have MATLAB/Simulink proficiency, hands-on testing experience, and the ability to own subsystems from concept

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Mid-Level: 3-7 years of relevant powertrain or propulsion systems experience.
• Senior: 8+ years of relevant experience with ownership of systems through a production program.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate powertrain systems for HEV, BEV, and ICE platforms.
• Define system requirements and cascade to component specs.
• Plan and execute dyno, HIL, bench, and in-vehicle testing; analyze data.
• Support calibration and controls development, including torque and energy management strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with controls, electrical, battery, vehicle integration, safety, and manufacturing teams.
• Contribute to DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, and technical documentation.
