Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer I for an onsite role in Gaffney, SC. You will contribute to the development and integration of powertrain components and systems for heavy-duty vehicles, using CAE/FEA/MBS methods and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The position requires a BS degree in mechanical engineering and up to 2 years of relevant experience, with a emphasis on design, analysis, and practical application.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME or BSMET degree.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Basic understanding of theories, practices, and procedures in the field.
• Work within standard practices to analyze information and problems.
• Experience with 3D design and strong communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses CAE to solve vehicle design problems using FEA and MBS, plus fatigue analysis.
• Designs and develops mechanical products, components, or systems.
• May design production processes and equipment for manufacturing.
• Collaborates with marketing and industrial design teams to meet specs and cost targets.
• Supports design, testing, fabrication and assembly of prototypes.
