Job summary

InDepth Engineering Solutions, LLC seeks a Dyno Technician to operate and maintain large dynamometers for powertrain testing and validation of electrified drive units. You will install instrumentation, build test rigs, and run data collection with engineers across teams.

The role emphasizes safety, fault diagnosis, and delivering high-quality test data to support product validation plans. Collaboration with NVH, Thermal, and Powertrain teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Technician experience working directly in test cells and/or large dynamometer systems.
• 2+ years experience with electrified vehicles.
• Instrumentation expertise with thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, hygrometers, pressure gauges, and thermocouples.
• Powertrain test setup and test error proofing experience.
• Mechanical tooling and fixture design experience.
• Knowledge of motor, inverter, and gearbox concepts.
• Knowledge of propulsion systems and thermal (coolant and refrigerant) management.
• Electric vehicle safety awareness.
• Ability to work in cramped or awkward positions during shifts.
• Operate a variety of scan tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for powertrain issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain large dynamometers for vehicle and powertrain testing.
• Select and install instrumentation to collect response data during testing.
• Build and setup test rigs/dynos with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Perform routine maintenance and electrical/mechanical repairs.
• Contribute to Environmental Health & Safety within the lab and risk assessments.
• Assist Validation Engineers with upgrades and modifications to systems under test.
• Perform first-line fault finding for system issues.
• Diagnose and repair prototype vehicle electrical/mechanical/software systems.
• Support Test Engineers to achieve test plans and equipment upgrades.
• Document findings and communicate results; escalate when needed.
• Create and maintain process documentation for rigs and equipment.
• Provide feedback and help implement better workshop standards and processes.
