Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products in Michigan seeks a System Simulation Engineer focused on Powertrain, Drivability, and Duty cycle to advance vehicle performance modeling. You will lead cross-functional teams, review outputs from performance and fuel economy models, and ensure requirements are defined and met.

Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and other automotive tools is required. You will collaborate with modeling, simulation, and validation teams to integrate thermal models into system simulations

Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience in automotive vehicle development.
• Strong working knowledge of vehicle performance and fuel economy models.
• Experience with duty cycle and driveability model development.
• Familiarity with thermal models and their integration into vehicle-level simulations.
• Ability to review and interpret modeling results — not necessarily build models, but understand them deeply.
• Experience tracking program deliverables, requirements, and technical risks across engineering groups.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Experience working with simulation and modeling teams (MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Suite, AMESim, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities across vehicle performance and fuel economy modeling teams.
• Review and track outputs from vehicle performance and fuel economy models.
• Oversee duty cycle and driveability model development across groups.
• Review and track thermal model development and results.
• Work closely with modeling, simulation, and validation teams to ensure requirements are defined, understood, and met.
• Track program deliverables, milestones, and technical risks; report status to engineering leadership.
• Facilitate cross-functional alignment between systems engineering, simulation, and vehicle development teams.
• Ensure modeling outputs align with vehicle-level performance, fuel economy, and driveability targets.
