Medxcel is seeking a skilled Boiler Operator to join the Facilities team at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. You will operate, monitor, and maintain steam boiler systems and related plant equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable utilities.

The role requires strong knowledge of boiler operations, a local license as required, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Rotating schedule, with 8–16 hours a week and full-time options, offers opportunities for growth and stability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Boiler Operator learning program is required
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local plant operations and boiler operation codes is preferred

Responsibilities

• Controls, starts, and shuts down complex facility utility systems, specializing in boiler operation
• Manages primary and auxiliary plant machinery including turbines, generators, furnaces, chillers and related equipment
• Monitors control boards, performs water sampling and compliance checks under the Water Management Plan
• Performs preventative maintenance and complex repairs to keep power generating equipment operating safely
• Documents plant status and coordinates emergency responses while supporting leadership and training teammates

Responsibilities

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Controls, starts, and shuts down complex facility utility systems, specializing in the complete operation, shutdown, troubleshooting, and restoration of low, medium, and high-pressure steam boilers.
• Manages primary and auxiliary plant machinery, including turbines, generators, furnaces, chillers, cooling towers, medical vacuum equipment, and pneumatic tube systems.
• Tracks facility conditions by checking control boards, monitoring indicators, and performing regular water sampling, testing, and compliance monitoring under the site Water Management Plan.
• Performs preventative maintenance, routine cleaning, and complex repairs—acting as a maintenance mechanic when necessary—to keep all power generating equipment operating safely.
• Documents plant status through data logs, meter readings, and malfunction reports, while coordinating emergency responses, assisting leadership with work assignments, and training team members.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Boiler Operator learning program

License

• Powerplant Operator, Boiler Operator, or Stationary Engineer License as required by local regulations

Experience

• 5 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local plant operations and boiler operation codes
