The Power Plant Operator II is responsible for the safe operation of the power plant and control structures. They operate, maintain, and adjust boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, chillers, cooling towers, and related equipment in the facilities. Responsibilities include periodic inspections, minor repairs, preventive maintenance, monitoring meters and gauges, record-keeping, and inspecting boilers per regulations. The role includes troubleshooting, repairing, and restoring operation of medium to high-pressure steam boilers, with potential assignment to complex repairs or locations with high-pressure steam systems.

This position is located at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital - Brookfield, WI.

Responsibilities

Power Plant Maintenance and Repair – 60%

  • Monitor equipment and indicators for operational issues.
  • Adjust controls to generate or regulate power.
  • Control power-generating equipment using control boards or semi-automatic systems.
  • Regulate equipment operations based on data.
  • Perform minor repairs and record operational data.
  • Manage outage calls and emergency responses.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment.
  • Maintain auxiliary systems like pumps, fans, and filters.
  • Assist in training and assigning work to team members.

Special Projects – 20%

  • Participate in meetings, training, and seminars.
  • Assist in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, trade school graduate, or relevant license.
  • 3+ years related experience or equivalent education/experience.
