Job summary

Cambrian College is seeking a full-time Professor in Powerline to deliver courses in a dynamic, student-centered environment. The role may involve HyFlex delivery across in-person, online, and virtual modalities, with responsibilities in curriculum development and student support.

The ideal candidate will hold a Journeyperson Red Seal Certification or C of Q as a Powerline Technician, plus several years of industry and teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a Journeyperson Red Seal Certification or Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) as a Powerline Technician.
• Five years of work experience in generation, distribution, transmission, protection, and control systems.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably at the postsecondary level.
• Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others and function effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to provide leadership and mentorship and be an effective role model in the classroom.
• Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student success.
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technologies, including in-class media presentation systems, learning management systems, and other relevant classroom technologies.
• Ability to work with students from diverse educational, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
• Solid commitment to students and education.
• Excellent written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer literacy and effective critical thinking and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of courses in the Powerline Technician program covering generation, distribution, transmission, protection, and control systems.
• Engage in curriculum development, lesson planning, assessing student progress and achievement, and class management.
• Collaborate as part of a team to advance the program and student outcomes.
• Advise students, assist with recruitment and graduate placements, and promote the program to industry partners.
• Contribute to College and school committees to support strategic priorities.
