Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Powerhouse Operator for our Perdue Hill/Alabama River, AL facility. The role safely operates high‑pressure steam boilers, turbine‑generators and evaporators to ensure steady production of pulp.

You will work twelve‑hour rotating shifts with overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays. The schedule is 4 days on, 7 off, 4 nights, 3 days, and 3 nights, with shift times 5:00 am–5:00 pm and 5:00 pm–5:00 am.

Qualifications

• Experience in a power plant or process industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with safety and lockout/tagout practices.
• Strong data entry and documentation skills using MS Word/Outlook/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor variables to maintain efficient operations and meet quality and production goals.
• Advance through skills level checklist toward Daily Operating Center position.
• Perform equipment cleanup, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Handle railcar and tanker loading/unloading of hazardous materials.
• Maintain strict safety compliance and PPE usage.
