Job summary

Penn State is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic - Utilities Electrical - Grade 4 to join our facilities team. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, transformers, motors, switchgear, pumps, and emergency lighting, plus installation assistance and generator testing. CDL Class A and 1–3 years of experience are required.

Schedule is typically 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with weekends off; extensive safety and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training.
• Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in electrical vaults, manholes, and equipment including transformers, motors, switchgear, and emergency lighting.
• Inspect and service pumps, fans, valves, dampers, actuators, and air compressors.
• Assist with electrical installation and repairs for equipment and utility lines.
• Operate generators for testing and energy management during peak usage.
• Maintain logs and records; operate mobile work tower for street and flood lighting.
