Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Power Transformer Tank Design Engineer responsible for the mechanical design of tanks and externals for power transformers, ensuring compliance with design standards and project timelines.

You will develop master layouts, 3D/2D CAD drawings, BOMs, and participate in supplier coordination, with relocation assistance offered if needed and relocation to Charlotte.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years as Tank Design Engineer for medium/large power transformers.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel parts and transformer tank components.
• Willingness to relocate to Charlotte, NC.

Responsabilités

• Design and analyze transformer tanks and components such as stiffeners, covers, coolers, conservators, pipework and cabling.
• Create master layouts and detailed drawings using 2D/3D CAD; prepare BOMs and customer documentation.
• Develop technical specifications and manage procurement of tank-related parts (fans, pumps, radiators, valves).
• Apply transformer design principles and calculation tools for structural components.
• Perform mechanical and seismic calculations; size and select accessories.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Design and analyze transformer tanks and components, including stiffeners, covers, coolers, conservators, pipework, and cabling.
• Create master layouts and detailed drawings using 2D/3D CAD; prepare bills of material and customer documentation.
• Develop technical specifications and manage procurement of tank-related parts such as fans, pumps, radiators, and valves.
• Apply transformer design principles and calculation tools for structural components.
• Perform mechanical and advanced structural/seismic calculations; size and select accessories.
• Support R&D projects aimed at product improvements.

What You Bring

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience as a Tank Design Engineer for medium or large Power Transformers. Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher level and vice versa.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel parts, materials, and transformer tank components.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (CREO, Pro/E, Inventor), 2D CAD (AutoCAD), PDM systems (PDM Link, Teamcenter), and SAP for BOM creation.
• Effective collaboration skills with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
• SAP experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English is necessary.
• If not already located in Charlotte, NC, must be willing to relocate (relocation assistance may be provided).
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
