Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Test Assistant to join our Electrical Power Services team in Houston, TX. You will support inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation of electrical power distribution equipment across commercial and industrial settings.

This role offers hands-on training under senior technicians and requires safety awareness aligned with NETA Level I trainee expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of related electrical, field service, electrical testing, utility, military, technical school, or industrial maintenance experience.
• Basic understanding of electrical theory, AC/DC circuits, power distribution equipment, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning support for low- and medium-voltage electrical power systems.
• Set up and operate electrical test equipment under supervision and document results.
• Assist with data collection, field notes, and customer reports.
• Read basic electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, and jobsite materials in a safe condition.
