Job summary

SmartGridTechnology is seeking a Solution Engineer (Power Systems) to work with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and grid operators across the US. You will apply advanced simulations and monitoring tools to help solve stability and compliance challenges, while advancing toward senior technical leadership.

The role offers a remote-first path within the US, with opportunities to influence product strategy and collaborate with product, sales, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• Knowledge of US reliability standards (NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO interconnection requirements).
• Strong understanding of dynamics stability challenges: oscillations, low inertia, inter-area modes, renewable integration.
• Experience with simulation tools such as PSS E, PSCAD, or PowerFactory.
• Excellent communication skills to present complex concepts to engineers and executives.
• Proactive and ambitious with the drive to grow into a Technical Lead role.
• Experience with synchrophasor (PMU) data and oscillation detection methods.
• Familiarity with ISO/RTO operations (CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO).

Responsibilities

• Customer engagement with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and grid operators.
• Deliver dynamic stability assessments and demonstrations addressing oscillations and low inertia.
• Translate NERC/FERC/ISO requirements into technical solutions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, sales, and engineering teams.
• Identify customer challenges to inform product strategy and new features.
