Job summary

Altorfer Inc is seeking a Power Systems Rental Technician in East Peoria, IL. You will manage rental fleet including generators, compressors, chillers, and related equipment within the shop and at customer sites.

The role requires basic maintenance, check-in/out, safety, and strong communication with customers. Overtime and weekend work when needed; HS diploma required; CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal technical training program or minimum of three years' relevant experience is preferred.
• Previous experience working with electronic diesel engines, fuel systems, generators, air compressors, heaters, indoor/outdoor environmental equipment is preferred.
• Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and CAT programs.
• Ability to follow all safety rules and wear proper safety equipment.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills are required.
• Must take initiative, work well in a team, and adapt to change.
• Ability to respond to callouts and work overtime and weekends when needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must have your own basic tools.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

• Responsible for rental fleet unit check-in/check-out, unit readiness, and basic troubleshooting/maintenance.
• Provide exceptional customer service by communicating with customers to meet expectations.
• Deliver and assist with loading/unloading components at customer sites.
• Assist with setup and basic troubleshooting/repairs as needed.
• Coordinate with service and parts sources for parts or services to repair/return fleet units.
• Complete rental documentation for unit status and Power Systems records.

7:30AM - 4:00PM Monday- Friday, Overtime and weekends when necessary

Basic Duties

Responsible for Power Systems Division rental fleet while at the Altorfer shop. Responsible for all units (generators and other types of equipment such as: compressors, chillers, a/c, heaters, cables, distribution and more).

• Responsible for rental fleet unit check in & check out, unit readiness (functional runs and appearance), and basic troubleshooting/preventative maintenance.
• Provide exceptional customer service by communicating and interacting with all customers to ensure we're meeting their expectations.
• Deliver and assist with loading & unloading project components on the customer's job site.
• Assist with set up, basic troubleshooting and repairs if needed.
• Coordinate with other service & part sources (Non-CAT specific) when needing to order certain unit parts or services to repair/fix returned fleet units.
• Complete rental documentation for customer's unit status.
• Responsible for completing rental paperwork for Power Systems records and maintaining unit status.
• May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position will work in a field/shop environment and at Customer jobsites. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 75lbs. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields, hearing protection, etc.) for a given situation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional travel may be required.
