Job summary
The Lansing Board of Water & Light is seeking a Journey System Protection Technician to maintain and protect the electrical transmission and distribution network in Lansing, MI. The role requires a 5-year apprenticeship or an associate degree with field experience, and readiness for 24/7 on-call coverage.
You will inspect, repair, calibrate, and install protective equipment, interpret diagrams, and support engineering and operations teams while upholding safety standards and training
Qualifications
- Must have completed a 5-year apprenticeship or an associate degree in Electric Theory with 5 years of related experience.
- Ability to apply instrument control mastery through vendor training such as AVO Megger and PLCs.
- Broad knowledge of instrumentation equipment, supplies and techniques.
- Must pass a technical assessment if Journeyman status is not held.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, repair, and maintain electrical equipment to ensure continuity of service.
- Locates underground faults and participates in 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Read and interpret circuit drawings; update documentation and reports.
- Provide technical support to Electrical Eng., Planning, and Operations.
