Job summary

Generac in East Peoria, IL is looking for an engineer to translate project write-ups into precise designs and fabrication drawings, ensuring schedules, manpower, and material requirements are met.

You will interpret specifications, collaborate with sales and electrical engineers, perform calculations, and provide technical support through production and testing. A BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 3 months of related experience are required; Windchill PLM and CAD tools are preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 months of related work experience.
• Experience with new product introductions and technical transfer to suppliers.
• Windchill PLM experience.
• Strong background in electrical power generation and engine/generator set industry.
• Experience in the data center industry is a plus.
• CAD experience with AutoCAD, ProE or SolidWorks; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Complete project design on time and stay within estimated hours and material costs.
• Start designing early to complete before production build date.
• Pull from existing applicable drawings.
• Monitor project through completion.
• Read and interpret specifications, write ups, pricing and correspondence.
• Discuss unresolved engineering questions with sales for clarification.
• Make sure the design is what the customer is expecting.
• Perform calculations and analysis using spreadsheets and software.
• Provide technical assistance to production and test; answer questions and provide support.
• Provide submittal and approval drawings when needed.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers regarding switchgear and cabling.
