Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Field Service Engineer to commission, test, and troubleshoot power distribution systems in a highly travel‑oriented role based in Sioux Falls, SD. You will support both greenfield and brownfield projects nationwide, ensuring safe, reliable operation across medium- and high‑voltage equipment.

Required are 4+ years in field-based power systems, experience with protection relays (SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC), and proficiency with Omicron/Doble test devices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years of experience with field-based commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical power distribution systems.
• Experience with protection and control relays (SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC) and related configuration software.
• Experience with relay testing equipment such as Omicron and Doble test sets.
• Experience with low- and medium-voltage switchgear, breakers, and electrical control circuits.
• Ability to travel up to ~80% domestically.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Installing, testing, commissioning, and starting up low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment (approximately 480V–38kV), including switchgear and breakers.
• Performing hands-on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control relays (e.g., SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens SIPROTEC).
• Using industry-standard test equipment and software (such as Omicron and Doble test sets, relay configuration and protection software) to validate system performance.
• Supporting greenfield and brownfield projects through commissioning, maintenance, emergency response, and corrective troubleshooting activities.
• Analyzing test results, assessing equipment condition, and documenting findings through clear, accurate field reports.
• Working directly with customers, partners, and internal teams to provide technical support, training, and consulting as needed.
• Traveling extensively to job sites across the U.S. to support field execution and project demands.
