Job summary

OP Engineering is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to help design and integrate generation, storage and critical electrical load for large US campuses. The role covers islanded and grid-parallel operation with a focus on reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates will have experience with behind-the-meter generation, microgrids or utility-scale energy storage and be proficient with PSCAD or PSS/E and grid interconnection standards. US-based candidates from outside Texas are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of power systems engineering principles and protective relaying.
• Experience with islanded and grid-parallel operation in campuses or utility-scale contexts.
• Familiarity with microgrid controls and test/commissioning processes.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical balance-of-plant systems for campus power installations.
• Integrate generation and BESS into power systems across islanded or grid-parallel modes.
• Specify generator connections, transformers and switchgear.
• Perform stability, grounding and protection studies.

Oliver Parks is supporting a rapidly growing AI and critical-infrastructure developer building large, power-intensive campuses across the US.

We’re looking for a Power Systems Engineer with experience across behind-the-meter generation, microgrids or utility-scale energy storage.

You’ll help engineer and integrate generation, storage and critical electrical load, covering both islanded and grid-parallel operation.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing electrical balance-of-plant systems
• Integrating generation and BESS into campus power systems
• Specifying generator connections, transformers and switchgear
• Performing stability, grounding and protection studies
• Designing for islanded and grid-parallel operation
• Integrating inverter-based resources with rotating generation
• Taking electrical designs through testing and commissioning
• Strong power-system stability and protection knowledge
• Experience with rotating machines and inverter-based resources
• Practical plant delivery or commissioning exposure

Experience with microgrid controls, PSCAD, PSS/E, grid codes or utility-interconnection standards would be highly relevant.
