Job description

Strobe is building the world's largest power plant: not a single site, but a distributed fleet of buildings, batteries, EVs, and generators that buy and sell power in real time across wholesale energy markets.

Own the engineering foundation that turns customer sites into dispatchable energy resources. You'll design electrical systems, lead utility interconnections, define deployment standards, and help build the playbook that allows Strobe to scale across thousands of sites.

Candidates should have strong expertise in three-phase AC systems, particularly 208V and 480V commercial and industrial applications.

What you'd own:

  • Lead utility interconnections from design engineering through approval: preparing one-line diagrams, technical packages, responding to utility comments, and advancing projects to Permission to Operate
  • Design electrical systems for battery storage, EV charging, CHP, solar-plus-storage, and backup generation projects across commercial and industrial facilities
  • Develop the reference architectures, interconnection standards, and deployment playbooks that Strobe uses across utility territories and project types
  • Define metering, telemetry, CT/PT placement, and integration requirements that drive Strobe's proprietary hardware and controls platform to increase speed to power
  • Review distribution systems, protection schemes, service upgrades, and equipment selections to ensure projects are safe, compliant, and practical to build
  • Work directly with utilities, EPCs, electricians, site owners, and permitting authorities to move projects from concept through construction
  • Translate utility requirements, interconnection rules, and field lessons into repeatable engineering standards and product requirements

Strong fit if you have:

  • A power systems or electrical engineering background with strong fluency in distribution systems, one-line diagrams, protection, and metering
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying DER projects including battery storage, EV charging, solar, CHP, or on-site generation, and a motivation to move fast
  • Direct experience managing utility interconnections and navigating utility review processes across commercial and industrial projects
  • Deep familiarity with the National Electrical Code and utility distribution practices, and experience operating quickly within them
  • Experience working across engineering, construction, operations, and customer-facing teams
  • A bias toward building repeatable systems and standards rather than solving every project from scratch
  • Comfort with Python and the ability to translate power system requirements into software
  • Experience with generator paralleling, export controls, anti-islanding, reverse-power protection, and microgrid systems
  • Experience with utility service upgrades, medium-voltage systems, switchgear, and protection coordination
  • Familiarity with distributed energy market participation requirements, telemetry systems, and grid operator programs
  • Prior experience creating engineering standards, design templates, or deployment frameworks adopted across multiple projects
