The Switchgear Controls Engineer (also known as Power Systems Engineer) collaborates with Engineers, DVL Sales, Program Management, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and end-user customers. This role involves leveraging prior experience to manage entire integrated power systems engineering projects from conception to completion.

Working with the Sales Engineer to define and budget the project
Refining budget costs post-closing to match projected costs
Developing submittal drawings as required
Coordinating with outside switchgear vendors (e.g., General Electric, Square D, DVM)
Providing schematics for control design, wiring on secondary devices, relays, generator control devices, power supplies, PLCs, networking, annunciation, control switches, etc.
Setting up and programming PLC control and redundancy logic, HMI graphics and pages
Applying and interfacing with Woodward Generator control devices, SEL, GE, Schneider, Bender, or Basler protective relay devices
Overseeing system construction, writing sequences of operations, factory and field test scripts
Participating in site and construction meetings, running factory witness tests
Field checking, testing, startup, commissioning, and training
Providing ongoing service as needed
Additional responsibilities include constructing control panels, performing start-up, maintenance, troubleshooting of ATSs and electrical systems, setting up protective relaying systems, and performing load bank tests, infrared imaging, and power quality analysis.
The salary range is $97,000 - $135,000/year plus a car allowance and bonus based on relevant experience.
