Job summary

Siemens Grid Software is seeking a Power Systems Consultant to develop models for power system elements, validate models, and perform large-scale simulations for clients such as power producers and transmission providers.

You will apply planning principles, analyze steady-state, dynamic, and transient behaviors, deliver on-site consulting, and present results to senior staff. This remote role is based in the Contiguous U.S. with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power and Energy Systems.
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience including engineering internships.
  • Knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow, transient stability, and/or electromagnetic transients.
  • Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience.
  • Ability to travel 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of assignments delivering steady-state, dynamic and transient analyses of transmission systems and modeling of power facilities.
  • Create draft reports and presentations with study results for review by senior staff and managers.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a growth mindset during training and mentoring opportunities.

We are seeking a Power Systems Consultant to develop models for power systems elements (such as conventional and renewable generating plants, voltage support devices, etc.), perform model validation, perform large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for clients such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations. Job responsibilities will include the application of power systems planning principles, simulation and analysis of power system steady state, dynamic, and transient behaviors, development of mathematical models for reliability assessment of electrical networks, and delivery of on-site technical consulting/training services.
This is a remote position based in the Contiguous U.S.
You’ll make an impact as you:
  • Drive execution of your assignments, deliver quality results on time and within budget through regular status reporting to satisfy the needs of our customers. The assignments can include steady-state, dynamic and transient analyses of electrical power transmission systems, modeling of renewable and conventional generation facilities and other elements of power systems, relay protection modeling, microgrid studies etc.
  • Create draft reports and presentations with study results for review by senior staff and managers.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a growth mindset as you participate in training and mentoring opportunities.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power and Energy Systems and practical experience in using advanced power system analysis tools.
  • We will consider candidates with at least one year of relevant professional experience including engineering internships.
  • Knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow, transient stability, and/or electromagnetic transients.
  • Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience.
  • Ability to travel 10%
Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge of PSSE, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, PSCAD and/or Python is a plus.
