Job summary

American Superconductor is seeking a Design Drafter in Queensbury, NY to develop 2D/3D drawings and documentation for power quality equipment. You will work with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.

The role requires CAD proficiency, attention to GD&T, and experience in a manufacturing setting. On-site work in upstate New York offers collaboration with cross-functional teams and ongoing design support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and drafting standards.

Responsibilities

• Support new product development and custom engineering solutions.
• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (AutoCAD and AutoCAD 3D).
• Produce fabrication and assembly drawings, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.
• Apply GD&T to ensure accurate tolerancing and manufacturability.
• Maintain drawing revisions and support audits of engineering documentation.
