Job summary

GE Vernova's Applied Grid Innovation (AGI) team is seeking a Power System Intern focused on foundational models to research and prototype AI-powered grid solutions in Bellevue, WA. You will help develop intelligent operational capabilities for utilities, leveraging AI to enhance reliability and decision support.

The role requires pursuing a degree in CS/DS/AI, with familiarity in Python, ML concepts, and power systems.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS, data science or AI/ML.
• Understanding of power systems, energy systems or utility ops.
• Experience with Python and data analytics.
• Familiar with ML concepts and generative AI technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Research foundation models and LLMs for grid operations.
• Prototype AI-powered workflows for control room and engineering use cases.
• Evaluate model capabilities with real-world power-system scenarios.
• Analyze operational datasets, docs, and knowledge sources.
• Develop proofs-of-concept for intelligent search, QA, and decision support.
• Collaborate with power-system experts, software engineers, and AI researchers.
• Document findings and suggest future product opportunities.
• Present technical results to AGI leadership and product teams.
