Job summary
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer to provide expert technical support and solutions for protection schemes. The role includes teaching customers and supporting reliability and safety of power grids, with locations in Hawthorn Woods, IL or Plymouth, MI.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years in power system protection and relays.
- Experience with utility/industrial power systems focusing on protection, control, operations.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Independent and team work ability, with 25% travel.
Responsibilities
- Apply new technologies or solutions to customers' power systems.
- Design models or demonstrations to teach customers how technologies work.
- Support SEL products and troubleshoot to root cause.
- Analyze protective relay responses to faults in power systems.
- Teach customers how to use SEL products and protection concepts.
- Contribute to white papers, guides, and technical papers.
