Join to apply for the Power System Protection Engineer - 10+ Years role at POWER Engineers

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer to join our SCADA and Analytical Services (SAS) team. This position is available in multiple POWER office locations with the possibility of remote work from a mutually acceptable location. Please specify your preferred location in the application.

Roles And Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing assigned projects, maintaining and enhancing client relationships, and developing new technical service areas. This role requires technical expertise in primary production roles, leadership skills in client interactions, and mentoring team members. Projects include electrical studies for utility, industrial, commercial, and IPP clients, analyzing systems such as generation facilities, substations, and transmission/distribution systems. Technical skills include:

  • Short circuit and symmetrical component analysis
  • Protection system coordination
  • Wide area coordination analysis
  • Protection scheme and settings criteria development
  • Protective relay settings file development
  • NERC compliance
  • Protection hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Event analysis
  • Protection for Bus, Transmission Line, Motor, Generator, Transformer, Distribution, Capacitor, and Reactor systems
  • Advanced system protection including series compensated lines, single pole tripping, and impacts of IBR on protection systems

Software tools used include: AcSELerator Quickset, GE Enervista, ASPEN OneLiner, PSSCAPE, SKM-PTW, ETAP, RSCAD/RTDS, PSCAD, ATP, EMTP, Mathcad, AcSELerator Architect, PCM 600, DIGSI.

Base salary ranges from $105,000 to $225,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and education. Salaries are exclusive of bonuses and other benefits.
