Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Power System Metering Engineer in the Northeast region.

You will work with customers to apply technologies to power systems, design demonstrations, and support SEL products while teaching others how to use SEL solutions. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required and a master’s is preferred; 5+ years of power quality and metering experience is expected, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with power quality, metering and electric power systems.
  • Experience with revenue metering and harmonics.
  • Strong ability to teach and mentor others.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers to apply new technologies to their power systems.
  • Design models and demonstrations to teach customers how SEL solutions work.
  • Support SEL products and troubleshoot to root cause.
  • Analyze meter and relay responses to faults and disturbances.
  • Contribute to and review technical papers and guides.

If you have strong knowledge of electric power systems, revenue metering, power quality, and metering information systems, and you are passionate about customer service, problem-solving, and teaching technology, this could be the perfect opportunity to grow your career with SEL.**A typical day as an Application Engineer - Metering might include:*** Working with customers to apply new technologies or solutions to their power systems.* Designing models and/or demonstrations of new technologies or solutions to teach customers how we can enhance their system(s).* Supporting SEL products and solution troubleshooting to get to root cause of a problem.* Analyzing responses of meters and relays to power system faults, power quality anomalies, and load interruptions.* Teaching customers how to use SEL products* Contributing to and reviewing white papers, application guides, industry journals, and technical papers.**This job might be for you if:*** Have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
