Job summary

Arista Networks in Roseville is seeking an experienced Power System Engineer to design and validate multi-kW AC/DC and DC/DC chassis power systems for next-generation networking equipment. You will define, source, and qualify OEM power supplies, and work hands-on in the lab to ensure performance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering with minimum 10 years of experience in power system design.
• Experience with regulatory processes for power supplies in commercial electronics.
• Strong knowledge of AC-DC and DC-DC design and system-level power distribution.
• Experience sourcing power supplies from 100W to 3000W and modular systems up to ~30 kW.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with global vendor teams.

Who You’ll Work With
As an Arista Power System Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best engineering and technical leaders in the industry, driving the design and implementation of multi-kW AC/DC and DC/DC chassis power systems.

What You’ll Do

• Define, develop, source, and qualify OEM power supplies to meet product and market requirements as part of the project team.
• Spend time hands-on in the lab characterizing new power supplies.
• Design and support dual grid and redundant AC or DC power systems.
• Apply strong analog and power circuit design knowledge to system qualification.
• Write clear and effective technical reports and communicate technical issues to a broad range of audiences including power teams, software engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Monitor OEM vendor performance during power supply development.
• Collaborate with vendor engineering teams abroad and lead projects from concept through production.
• Participate in defining next-generation systems; innovate and propose improvements to existing designs.
• Work closely with mechanical and compliance teams to ensure power distribution systems meet all national and international regulatory standards.
• Consult with system and diagnostic engineers on best testing practices for compliance.
• Travel internationally as required.

Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
• Experience with regulatory processes for designing and certifying power supplies in commercial electronics.
• Excellent knowledge of AC-DC & DC-DC design issues, system-level power distribution, and industry best practices.
• Experience sourcing power supplies ranging from 100 Watts to 3000 Watts, supporting both AC and DC input power.
• Understanding of design challenges in large modular systems delivering total power up to ~30 kW.
• Familiarity with 54V to 12V IBC 1–3 kW converter bricks and PCB power distribution layouts using such modules.
• Experience with SPICE simulations is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills regarding requirements, critical path, and schedules.
• Experience with custom product development is preferred.

Compensation Information:

The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $137,000 to $198,000.

Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location.

The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
