Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Structural Designer - Power in Kansas City, MO with exposure to steel and concrete detailing. You will assist in preparing detailed construction drawings and collaborate with engineers on industrial projects.

The role requires CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla) and a foundation in structural theory; you will contribute to design calculations, drafting, and revisions while meeting project standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in drafting technology or related field.
• Alternate qualified paths include an Associate degree with related experience.
• At least 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla and Excel.
• Basic knowledge of design, calculations and design systems.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve design issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures.
• Support drawing production, layout, and calculations on non-routine projects.
• Assist on projects for industrial facilities and manufacturing.
• Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling using standard engineering procedures.
• Assist with initial rough designs, redlines, and markups.
• Prepare structural calculations and apply design codes.
• Draft structural elements and details within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Organize revisions and project-related information.
• Comply with policies and standards.
