LOW-CODE, REAL ENGINEERING

There's a version of Power Platform work that means building someone's expense form for the fourth time. This isn't that.

Improvix Technologies is hiring a Senior Power Platform Engineer to modernize mission-critical systems for a federal client. You'll look at aging .NET applications and legacy tools and make the real architectural calls — rebuild, re-architect, or integrate — then design and build the Power Platform solutions that replace them.

You'll also set the standards. This program is early enough that the patterns, governance model, and development practices are still being written, and you'll be the person writing them. If you've ever inherited a tenant full of undocumented flows built by six different people and wished someone had set the rules on day one — this is the chance to be that someone.

WHY ENGINEERS TAKE THIS ROLE
  • Architecture, not just apps. You're deciding what gets rebuilt and how it's structured — Dataverse models, integration patterns, solution architecture — not picking up pre-scoped tickets.
  • You define the standards. Development patterns, governance, and ALM practices for the platform are yours to establish and enforce.
  • Visible mission impact. The tools you build support State Department teams doing consequential work. You'll meet the people who use what you ship.
  • Range in the work. Rapid proofs-of-concept one week, enterprise data modeling and API integration the next. It doesn't get repetitive.
  • Published salary, stated up front. $140,000–$185,000. No games, no "depends on experience" runaround.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
  • Evaluate existing .NET and legacy tools and design modernization strategies built on Power Platform.
  • Make the call on when to rebuild, when to re-architect, and when to integrate with existing enterprise systems.
Designing & Building Enterprise Solutions
  • Develop canvas and model-driven Power Apps on a scalable architecture.
  • Build advanced Power Automate workflows and integrations.
  • Design and implement Dataverse data models, security models, and governance controls.
  • Integrate APIs, Azure services, and enterprise data sources.
  • Deliver rapid proofs-of-concept that show stakeholders what modern low-code can actually do.
  • Translate complex business needs into intuitive, user-focused solutions.
  • Establish development standards, solution architecture patterns, and governance best practices.
  • Mentor technical staff and citizen developers on sustainable app design and long-term maintainability.
Documentation & Enablement
  • Produce technical documentation and deliver training to both technical and non-technical audiences.
WHAT YOU BRING

If you can do the work below, we want to hear from you — a missing certification or an unconventional path isn't a dealbreaker.

  • 5+ years of application development experience, including 3+ years building enterprise Power Platform solutions.
  • Hands‑on depth across Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), advanced Power Automate workflows and integrations, Dataverse schema and security design, and Power Fx.
  • Real solution‑architecture experience — you've made structural decisions that other people then built on.
  • Experience integrating APIs and enterprise data sources.
  • Working understanding of platform governance, security, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong communication skills, with the judgment to explain a technical tradeoff to a program manager and a design decision to another engineer.
  • U.S. citizenship, and an active Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC three days per week.
BONUS POINTS
  • Federal or other high-compliance environments.
  • Azure services and secure cloud architecture.
  • Power BI integration and data visualization.
  • DevOps, CI/CD, and ALM practices applied to Power Platform.
  • Microsoft certifications — Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400), Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900), or DevOps Engineer Expert. Certified Scrum Developer is a plus.
