Job summary

Luminant Power LLC in Reading, PA seeks a Plant Operator to manage the overall operations of power plant systems from the Control Room. Responsibilities include startup/shutdowns, alarm response, and coordinating maintenance to meet performance and commercial commitments.

The role emphasizes preventive and corrective maintenance, safe operation, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. Candidates should have 2–4 years’ experience, power plant exposure, and strong troubleshooting

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of related experience.
• Power plant experience preferred.
• Tier 1 job performance measures: Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Demonstrate standard computer based skills.
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills.
• Independent knowledge of troubleshooting.
• Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Must be a successful candidate on the POSS/MASS program via POSS/MASS testing and communications.

Job Summary

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Required duties depend upon the particular field requiring skills for advancement.
• Assisting/performing troubleshooting of plant equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning, daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair /replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures.
• Provides skills for maintaining equipment at the plant
• Perform clearances in LOTOV under the direction of a senior operator or supervisor
• Utilizes/operates various types of hand, power, precision or machine tools necessary to support safe and productive work environments.
• Maintains a working knowledge of all electronic control systems and computers
• Understands and follows current safety and environmental regulations necessary to conduct all phases of work
• Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

• 2 -4 years of related experience
• Power plant experience preferred
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures composed of basic: Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
• Demonstrate standard computer based skills
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
• Independent knowledge of troubleshooting
• Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. • Must be flexible to changing conditions and situations.
• Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.
• When required for operation, maintenance or safety emergencies must be able to quickly access all areas of the plant including confined spaces, high elevations and hot areas.
• Must have manual dexterity required to operate keyboards, pushbuttons, dials and valves.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and enter confined space as required to complete assigned tasks.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs of weight.
• Ability to pass respirator physical and fit test.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and other documents.
• Independently prioritize the workload and multitask to achieve completion of assigned tasks on time.
• Interact with all levels of management in a professional manner.
• Ability to manage external relationships with vendors and other contractors.

Must be able to successfully pass POSS/MASS pre-employment test.

Position can be filled at level 1-4 depending on skill and experience.

• Progression of skill within primary skill set.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 job performance measures predominately composed of Sign-offs of demonstrating different primary and auxiliary system operations and maintenance relevant to primary skill.
• Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge.
