Job summary

American Electric Power Co. seeks a Plant Equipment Operator at the Turk Power Plant within one hour of driving. The role involves placing in service, monitoring and isolating plant auxiliary systems, and communicating status to operators and supervisors during shifts.

You will assist in semi-skilled maintenance and outages as needed. This position requires physical ability, willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and nights, and the ability to read basic prints and follow safety

Qualifications

Monitor plant equipment and report abnormal conditions.
Assist in troubleshooting equipment problems and document these problems.
Assist in preparing boilers, turbines and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service.
Perform routine cleaning of plant areas, tools and equipment; operate and lubricate as needed.

Responsibilities

Monitor and inspect all plant equipment for normal operation; report abnormal conditions.
Assist in preparing boilers, turbines and auxiliaries for operation.
Operate, regulate, adjust, clean and maintain power plant equipment.
Handle bulk products safely and in accordance with procedures.
Collect and prepare samples and perform tests with basic analytical equipment.
