Job summary

North Slope Borough is seeking an operator to operate and maintain stationary engines and related equipment to provide continuous power and services to village residents. The role includes monitoring gauges, adjusting water temperatures and pressures, and maintaining logs of performance and outages.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years in power plant work, and the ability to obtain RCRA, HAZWOPER, SPCC training during probation.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED with a possible combination of 12 years education and related work experience.
• Two years of power plant work experience are required.
• Ability to obtain site specific RCRA training during probation.
• Ability to obtain HAZWOPER current certification during probation.
• Ability to obtain Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) training during probation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines and mechanical equipment to provide power and essential services.
• Monitor and adjust water temperatures and pressures; supervise staff and provide guidance as needed.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment performance and power/fuel outages.
• Inspect and clean equipment and facilities; report maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Respond to power plant alarms and outages and coordinate with supervisor.
