Overview

Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services, and more.

The Plant Operations goal is to keep the hospital, medical office building, and Eunice Smith Nursing Home infrastructure in good working order. The Plant Operations department performs routine repairs and maintenance, completes work orders for repairs, and maintains the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides the necessary skills for operation and maintenance of the physical plant systems to ensure safe operation, optimal performance, and maximum efficiency. Handles difficult repairs and overhauls on mechanical equipment within the system.

Responsibilities

• Keeps equipment clean and operational. Properly handles and disposes of hazardous and infectious waste, practicing infection control. Adheres to regulatory guidelines.
• Operates, repairs, troubleshoots, and maintains all physical plant equipment in compliance with department procedures, policies, and all applicable regulations.
• Completes all assigned preventative maintenance tasks using approved procedures, department policies, and manufacturer specifications.
• Notifies leadership of equipment malfunctions, boiler casualties, or other unforeseen events impacting hospital operations.
• Monitors elevators and dispatches repair personnel when needed.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• 5-10 years

Supervisor Experience

• No Experience required

Preferred Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

• SE - Class 1, HVAC/EPA Refrig
