Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking a Power Plan Operator to maintain continuity of service for heating, cooling, steam, gas, water treatment and other hospital utilities. The role involves observing safety regulations and maintaining safety and fire equipment, with responsibility for cogeneration systems and emergency backup facilities.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in industrial, electrical, mechanical and/or HVAC required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or completion of an accredited trade course in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, industrial technology or related field preferred.

• Maintain continuity of service for heating, cooling, steam, gas, water treatment, general utilities, cogeneration systems and emergency backup systems for Hospital and allied property.

Job description

• Facility University Medical Center of El Paso
• Schedule - Shift - Hours Full Time - Rotating - Rotating

The Power Plan Operator maintains continuity of service for the heating, cooling, steam, gas, water treatment, general utilities, cogeneration systems, emergency back up systems, equipment and machinery necessary for the functioning of Hospital and allied property. Observes and enforces safety regulations and practices and maintains safety and fire equipment.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of use of personal computer and ability to learn operation software applications (i.e. METASYS Energy Management System).
• Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to health care facilities.
• Knowledge with tools and methods of trade.
• Knowledge of Boiler Steam Systems, Electrical Safety procedures not greater than 480 volts, and Electrical Controls.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints.
• Knowledge of MSDS information
• Knowledge of Life Safety code, NFDA and ADA requirements and specifications.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to make mathematical calculations and follow detailed written and oral instruction.

Work Experience:

Four years of experience in industrial, electrical, mechanical and/or HVAC required.

Education and Training:

High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or completion of an accredited tradecourse in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, industrial technology or related fieldpreferred.
