Job summary

Ohio Valley Electric Corporation seeks a Maintenance Mechanic - A: Welder preferred for its Clifty Creek site. Full-time, on-site role performing maintenance on power plant equipment, inspection, repair, and welding tasks across electrical, mechanical, and shop processes.

The candidate must qualify in electrical, welding, machinist or mechanical specialties, with ASME-welding-code awareness. Benefits are provided; opportunities exist for plant-wide assignments and training.

Qualifications

Must pass an exam and job demonstrations if required.
Combination of education/experience to perform duties and/or advance.
Must qualify in one Maintenance specialty: electrical, welding, machinist and/or mechanical.
Welding specialty aligned with ASME code requirements approved by IN/OH.
Thorough knowledge of tools/equipment and safe maintenance practices.
Ability to interpret complex blueprints/specifications.
Ability to lead and direct assigned staff.

Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical equipment incl. transformers, motors, breakers.
Repair mechanical equipment: prime movers, pumps, generators, piping, and rigging.
Operate and maintain machine shop equipment (lathes, mills, grinders).
Weld high-pressure or high-temperature piping; brazing and related work.
Assist higher-classification staff and direct junior employees.
Perform maintenance at other plants as needed; travel may be required.
Maintain clean work areas; comply with safety rules and procedures.
Train and mentor others; report irregularities and safety concerns.
